The National History Museum (NHM)has recorded a continuous increase in the number of visitors. From the data provided by this museum, for the period January-June 2023, it seems that there were 91% more visitors in total, compared to the same period of 2022.

The first 6 months of 2023 registered 30,995 visitors, while a year ago the figure was around 16,000.

The National Historical Museum is one of the most visited cultural institutions by locals and foreigners. NHM was inaugurated in 1981. It remains the most important museum institution in the country.

The National Historical Museum aims to promote the understanding and appreciation of the history of Albania to the local, national and international public. It also aims to encourage dialogue between citizens about the Albanian past, present and future. For this purpose, it preserves and studies the tangible and intangible evidence of Albania’s historical and cultural heritage, which it communicates and presents in an environment that promotes education.

The building of the National Historical Museum occupies a total area of 27,000 m2; it has an exhibition area of 18,000 m2 and a total volume of 81,000 m3. There are about 6200 objects in the museum premises, which belong to a relatively long period of time, starting from the 4th millennium BC and up to the second half of the 20th century. There are about 3100 exposed objects. The rest of the objects are in funds.
