On June 17, 1815, Dasho Shkreli was born in Shkodër, a fighter against the Ottoman invaders and Montenegrin chauvinists for national liberation. Commanded during the anti-Ottoman uprising in Shkodër in 1835. Dasho Shkreli was killed together with his brother Sefa in the battle of the Shpuza Castle against the Montenegrin forces in June 1840.

On June 17, 1878, the National Assembly of the League of Prizren approved the Statute of the Albanian League and the “Orders”, which dealt with organizational, political and military aspects.

On June 17, 1907, was born the pioneer of Albanian veterinary science, Prof. Dimitar Vavako. He directed the Veterinary Laboratory. Vavako is the author of many scientific works in the field of microbiology and epizootology.

On June 17, 1921, Avni Rustemi founded the patriotic club for the unification of the people in Gjirokastër.

On June 17, 1935, Halim Meniku published the literary cultural magazine “Life and Culture” in Tirana. From the first issues, he dealt with educational, linguistic and economic problems.

On June 17, 1937, the “Statute of the Albanian Red Cross” with 51 articles was passed and published in the Official Gazette.
