After 8 years, Gjirokastra is expected to hum with the sounds of folklore of our beautiful Albanian tradition within the “Table of Albanian Heritage” festival.

A few days before its launch, the Minister of Culture Elva Margariti shared some of the details of this Festival, which will start on June 24 and end on July 1. Margariti said that it will be a beautiful postcard for Albania.
The minister said that there will be around 1,200 Albanian and foreign artists, but also Arbëreshe who will be able to bring the special and the authentic to the week dedicated to Albanian culture in Gjirokastër.

“It is a big undertaking at the international level, not only at the national level. The festival is definitely a beautiful postcard of Albania, but it will be accompanied by beautiful music. The whole of Gjirokastra will be buzzing for the whole week.

It starts on June 24th and ends on July 1st. There will be Italian orchestras in the finale. We have almost 800 artists from Albania and 400 outside Albania. But the number could be even higher. In the castle we will celebrate everything, with music, the beautiful repertoire that we have preserved from generation to generation. This will be a year where there will be no awards and this has been greatly supported,” Margarti said.

We remind you that the first edition of this festival “Table of Albanian Heritage” was opened on October 11, 1968 in the museum city of Gjirokastra, being considered at that time as a unique festival in the preservation, protection and popularization of the spiritual cultural heritage in Albania.
