With the motif “Albania dances and celebrates”, the Folklore Festival of Gjirokastra returns after 8 years. The 10th edition comes again with the aim of preserving and inheriting the folklore values of all the regions where Albanian is spoken and sung.

The variety of activities will extend to all the key points of Gjirokastra, thus promoting the values of the stone city.

“The festival will take place from June 24 to July 1, 2023 and will host artists and artistic groups from the 12 regions of the country, as well as from Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, etc. On the traditional stage of the Castle, folk music groups from the Arbëresh people of Italy, Albanians from Greece, Italy, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and the USA will also perform. All minorities and their musical and choreographic testimonies are represented in the festival within the groups of the respective districts,”Minister of Culture Margariti said.

 About 1200 well-known artists and groups, not only Albanian, but also international are invited during the nights of this Festival. For the first time, the festival comes with innovations.
