“Clothes of the city-Monastery” in the house museum of Sterjo Spasses

The Korçë Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage(RDCH) presented the exhibition “Clothes of the city-Manastir”, in the museum house of Sterjo Spasse, in Gollomboç. This activity was carried out in implementation of the SMART4YOU2 project, a project implemented under the Cross-Border Program Albania – North Macedonia, where (RDCH) Korçë is a partner.
The exhibition “City Clothes – Bitola” presents objects from the collection of NI “Institute and Museum” Bitola, which date from the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. Although the number of samples is not large, it nevertheless reflects the cultural and historical development of Bitola, and especially the development of urban clothing.
The exhibition showed two types of costumes in the way of dressing: “Alla Turka” or oriental way of dressing, which is a consequence of the centuries-old rule of the Turks, and that “Alla Frenga” or the European influence on clothing, brought by the growing number of representatives of European countries.
At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th, the Monastery had a central place in European Turkey and was an administrative, military and commercial center with a diverse ethnic composition of the population.
