The jury convenes for the “Lumo Skëndo” award 2022

The jury of the second edition of the “Lumo Skëndo” award, directed by prof. Belina Budini and members Uran Butka, researcher of the work of Mit’hat Frashëri, alias Lumo Skëndo, Ardit Bido, director of the General Directorate of Archives, prof. assoc. Teuta Toska and journalist Monika Stafa evaluated in a media conference the journalistic and essay work for the year 2022.
This award is considered as an estimation to evidence the best values of publications that play a role in public discussions.
“Lumo Skëndo” award was established a year ago by the National Book and Reading Center for the best work in journalism and essay writing. This year marks its second edition.
The head of the jury, Belina Budini said that the second edition of the “Lumo Skëndo” award from the National Book and Reading Center is good news for authors, who are highly appreciated in the genres of public and essay writing.
“This is a good opportunity to bring to attention the name of a rare and polyhedral figure, such as Mit’hat Frashëri. A thinker of his caliber deserves to be appraised and re-appreciated for generations, in order to make justice to the recognition denial in this respect, for many years by the former social regime. The list of authors in the competition is comprehensive in this preliminary stage, so we are open to all these new streams in the field that is well-developed, but not so properly appreciated in the public space,” said Budini.
Dr. Ardit Bido, director of the General Directorate of Archives, expressed his gratitude for his selection in the jury this year.
“I thank the National Book and Reading Center for selecting me this year as a member of the jury for the Lumo Skëndo award for the best journalistic and essay work published in 2022. These two genres, which are often forgotten, are essential in relation to contemporary constructive and comprehensive social debates, especially in the era of massive noisiness we live,” said Bido.
The National Book and Reading Center invites publishers to send publications of the year 2022, in these two genres.
Lea Ypi was the Lumo Skendo award winner of the previous edition with the book ‘”Të lirë” [Free].
