After the ‘Oscar’ at the Venice Biennale, the Albanian film reaps success with Erenik Beqiri

From the Oscar awards with ‘Van’, at the Venice Biennale. Director Erenik Beqiri’s film “A short journey” has been selected among 12 productions in the “Orizzonti” category in this 80th edition of the Biennale, which will be held from August 30 to September 9 on Lido Island.
The ‘Orizzonti’ category focuses on new aesthetic trends. Produced with the support of the French Embassy, the director shows whether the film can be considered an Albanian production.
“I think that the film is Albanian, starting from the fact that the event of the film comes from an Albanian context, the main actors are also Albanian, and above all, I am also Albanian.
The French Embassy has been supportive in my production process, not as a film producer, but as a creator of the connecting bridge for me in France”, he says.
The protagonist actress of this film, Luana, is also part of the Biennale as a director, since “Our World”, a Kosovo production, was selected as part of the “Orizzonti Extra” section.
