Tirana, October 14 — The Albanian Academy of Sciences has been accepted as an honorary member of the International Community of Academies, known as Koinon.

Koinon brings together national and international academies from over 60 countries. It focuses on the humanities and social sciences.

The Koinon Board approved Albania’s application unanimously. In an official letter, Professor Christos Zerefos, Secretary General of the Athens Academy and President of Koinon’s Board, praised the successful application. He also expressed confidence in future cooperation with the Albanian Academy of Sciences.

The International Community of Academies promotes collaboration between scientific institutions worldwide. It provides member academies opportunities to meet, work together on medium- and long-term projects, and participate in national and international research initiatives.

The organization encourages joint studies and publications in fields supported by its members. These include philology, archaeology, history, moral sciences, and political sciences.
