Albanian Academy of Sciences Presents Edmond Buharaja’s Historiography of the Art of Sound in the Albanian World

The Albanian Academy of Sciences, together with the Center for Art Studies and the UART Faculty of Music, introduced the book Historiography of the Art of Sound in the Albanian World – From Prehistory to Antiquity by the late Prof. Dr. Edmond Buharaja. Academician Vasil S. Tole, Deputy Chair of the Academy, honored Buharaja, whose contributions as a composer, musicologist, and educator remain deeply influential.

In his remarks, Tole called Buharaja’s absence deeply felt but noted his lasting legacy: “Today, we celebrate his invaluable work, which forms part of his enduring legacy.”

Tole explained that Buharaja’s study explores the evolution of Albanian sound art, using historical, linguistic, anthropological, and musicological data. The book defines the “Albanian world” broadly, including Albania, Kosovo, and areas of the diaspora. Structured in six comprehensive chapters, it presents a detailed view of Albanian musical history and its unique heritage.

The event concluded with a concert of Buharaja’s compositions, organized by the Academy, marking a fitting tribute to his life and work.
