Albanian Alphabet Day Celebrated as a Symbol of National Unity

President Bajram Begaj commemorated Albanian Alphabet Day, emphasizing its significance as a cornerstone of national unity and cultural resilience. On this occasion, he met with students from the “Rilindja” school in Kavaja, winners of the National Albanian Language Competition.
In a social media post, Begaj highlighted the beauty and importance of the Albanian language, pledging to continue honoring and promoting it for generations to come.
“Today, we celebrate our most precious treasure, the most profound symbol of national unity and Albanian perseverance: the alphabet of our blessed language. This day is not just about letters but also a tribute to centuries of resilience, gratitude for its beauty today, and a commitment to its preservation in the future. The language of eagles will endure,” wrote Begaj.
November 22 marks the unification of the Albanian alphabet during the 1908 Congress of Manastir. The day has been declared a national holiday, an announcement made by Prime Minister Edi Rama during the Diaspora Summit held last year in Tirana.
This celebration underscores the enduring legacy of the Albanian language and its cultural significance, uniting Albanians worldwide.
