Photographer and visual artist Blerta Kambo announced as a finalist for the Circa Prize, a prestigious contemporary art award for young artists organized by Circa Art (Cultural Institute of Radical Contemporary Arts) in Great Britain.

Blerta has chosen as a finalist, along with 29 other artists, by a panel of curators in an open competition that attracted participants from around the world. Notably, this marks the first time that an Albanian artist has achieved finalist status for the Circa Prize.

On September 3, Blerta’s video, titled “Heavy Stone,” displayed on the large screens of Piccadilly Circus in London. The video was simultaneously shown in Berlin and Milan at 20:23 local time.

Blerta’s video art poetically addresses the theme of emigration.

It is in competition for two awards: one determined by a jury composed of prominent figures in contemporary art, and the other determined by public votes.
