An exhibition is being held on the 100th anniversary of At Zef Pllumi’s birth

The National Library has opened an exhibition to honor this significant figure in Albania’s cultural and political history. The exhibition, featuring books and manuscripts, is open to the public in the main hall of the library.
At Zef Pllumi spent 26 years in communist political prisons, and after the fall of the dictatorship, he documented his memoirs.
His most notable work is the trilogy Rrno vetëm për me tregue, first published in 1995, with a foreword by Prof. Aurel Plasari. The second edition in 2006 includes a foreword by renowned Albanian writer Ismail Kadare.
Born in Bogë on August 28, 1924, Zef Pllumi was influenced by the Franciscan friars Gjergj Fishta and Anton Harapi. In 1931, he entered the Franciscan College in Shkodra, where he received a classical education and learned multiple languages.
In the early 1940s, Pllumi worked with the magazine Hylli i Dritës and assisted At Anton Harapi in organizing the Franciscan Archive. His close ties to the Catholic clergy led to his arrest and sentencing in 1946 at the age of 22.
He was released from prison in 1989 and resumed his priesthood in Tirana until 1997.
In 2006, At Zef Pllumi was awarded the “Honor of the Nation” and the “Golden Pen” prize for his memoir trilogy.
The exhibition also includes his works such as Françeskanët e mëdhaj, Siç thonim dje…, Frati i pashallarëve Bushatli të Shkodrës, Histori kurrë e shkrueme, Saga e fëmijnisë, and Antipoezi për shekullin e njizetë.
