Architect Ricardo Santonja Brings Contemporary Spain to Tirana Through Photography

A series of photographs by architect Ricardo Santonja captures the evolution of contemporary Spain, illustrating how the country has adapted to modern times in the 21st century by establishing vital infrastructure for communication and functionality.
The exhibition titled “Iconic Architecture in Contemporary Spain” features images of some of Spain’s most renowned architectural landmarks, all presented through Santonja’s lens.
These photographs are currently on display at the FAB Gallery, marking the opening of the Spanish Cultural Week in Tirana.
“Architecture drives nations forward and reflects the people’s desire for progress. Through these structures, you will see how Spain has undergone a transition, achieving globally recognized architecture through democracy,” Santonja stated, as reported by the media.
Photography, as a medium for conveying human endeavors and an art form in its own right, offers a fresh perspective on understanding the Spanish landscape, according to Santonja.
Ricardo Santonja is a professor at the Higher Technical School of Architecture in Madrid (UPM) within the Department of Architectural Graphic Ideation. He is also a visual artist and a professional photographer specializing in architecture and engineering.
