Austrian author Robert Menasse, recipient of the European Book Prize, visited the Europe House to meet with readers and various public figures for a discussion on his novel The Enlargement, now available in Albanian.

Menasse read excerpts from the book, which delves into the ties between Europe and Albania, engaging in a conversation about European values, the enlargement process, and the role of literature in shaping our shared future.

During the event, Menasse emphasized that Europe needs Albania, viewing the Western Balkans as an inseparable part of the continent. He argued that peace in the region is essential to the EU’s mission, advocating for a unified market and legal system. As for the book’s title, The Enlargement, Menasse explained that it reflects countries aspiring to join the EU, describing Albania as a nation of potential and optimism despite skepticism from some member states.
