Ballet Dancers from Varna Theater Bring ‘The Sleeping Beauty’ to Tirana

The classic ballet “The Sleeping Beauty” transports audiences to a realm of fairy tales, where love and faith triumph over evil. Accompanied by Tchaikovsky’s timeless music and stunning choreography, this performance, featuring the dancers of the Varna Theatre, invites spectators to immerse themselves in a magical world filled with princes, princesses, and sorcerers.
The collaboration with the Varna Theatre, a fruitful initiative that commenced with the 2023 artistic calendar, continues to be embraced by the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet (TKOB) into 2024, fostering successful exchanges of artists and productions.
“The Sleeping Beauty” will grace the stage on the evening of October 13. The narrative follows Princess Aurora, who is cursed to prick her finger on a spinning wheel and fall into a deep slumber for 100 years. This enchantment can only be broken by the kiss of a prince.
This ballet was first performed in 1890 in St. Petersburg, Russia, based on Charles Perrault’s fairy tale “Sleeping Beauty in the Wood.”
