Bari Hosts Exhibition Honoring Luigj Gurakuqi’s Legacy

The State Archives in Bari opened a special exhibition. It honors Luigj Gurakuqi, one of Albania’s greatest historical figures. The event marks 100 years since his death. The General Directorate of Archives of Albania supported the initiative.
The exhibition shows original documents and digital materials. These highlight Gurakuqi’s major role in building the Albanian state. He contributed to the National Renaissance. He also played a key part in Albania’s political, cultural, and institutional life.
This exhibition is part of a wider program. The Albanian Archives organized several activities in Italy. They held the 9th Pan-Albanian Archival Conference in San Demetrio Corone. They visited Arbëresh communities in Calabria and Apulia. They also worked with the University of Calabria, the Diocese of Rossano, and the Bari State Archives.
The exhibition does more than honor a hero. It strengthens cultural ties. Gurakuqi remains a symbol of the deep historical connection between Albania and Italy.
