Bashtova Fortress, built in the 16th century, has been fully restored. The EU funded the project through EU4Culture. Today, the fortress buzzes with culture, tourism, and community life.

At the inauguration, officials stressed the value of sustainable tourism and heritage preservation. EU Ambassador Silvio Gonzato said, “We honor Albania’s rich heritage and open doors for sustainable tourism.”

He added, “EU4Culture supports artists, craftsmen, and community engagement.” Gonzato underlined the transformation: “This fortress once stood for defense and isolation. Now, it welcomes connection, dialogue, and discovery. We need more spaces like this for our communities.”
