At the end of April 1788, Ali Pasha Tepelena started the military campaign to capture Janina (Ioannina). He defeated the opponents, surrounded castle and entered the city amid the cheers of the people.

On April 26, 1910, the residents of Gryka e Vogël in the area of Dibra rose up to prevent the entry of Turkish troops into the Albanian mountains.

On April 26, 1915, representatives of Italy, England, France and Russia signed the secret Treaty in London, with the main intention of making Italy enter the war on the side of Entente. According to the treaty, Italy received Vlora and Sazan, Greece Korça and Gjirokastër and the surroundings, Serbia and Montenegro, Shkodra, and Kosova. These paved the way to the physical elimination of Albanians, their Slavization and Hellenization.

On April 26, 1919, the Peace Conference held in Paris approved the status of the League of Nations. Albania joined this organization in 1920.

On April 26, 1919, an ordinary building in central Albania was adopted as the first hospital by American Red Cross volunteers.

On April 26, 1980, an important cultural institution was added to the touristic Korça not only for Albanians but for foreigners too, the “Museum of Medieval Art”, a special Museum with a the large number of art-masters, authors of icons (about 10 master of iconography) and the diversity of the fund of objects that it administers (8000 objects of Medieval Art, among which 6500 are icons).
