Calendar – August 4

-August 4, 1911 marked the ceasefire of the Albanian northern Highland Uprising, which had started on March 24, 1911. Thanks to this ceasefire, the raising of the Albanian national flag in Bratila of Deçiq, the Memorandum of Gërça and the political program of the Albanian uprising, as well as the proclamation of the Political Mission of the diplomat of Ismail Qemali were made possible.

-On August 4, 1924, the Extraordinary Congress of the “Association of Post-Telegraphers of Albania” was held. It approved the statute and regulations aimed at securing and protecting the rights of Post Telephone Telegraph employees.

-On August 4, 1940, the migration, terror and exile of Çami population of Muslim religion to the islands of the Aegean Sea began. According to the witnesses, their treatment was the same as of the Nazis did to the Jews. Ironically, it was the Nazi German invasion of Greece on April 6, 1941 that freed the exiled Çami, but when they returned to their villages there was no one left there.
