On March 1, 1945, the well-known poet Xhevahir Spahiu was born in Malind of Skrapar. He graduated in 1967 in Literature at the University of Tirana. From this year until today, he has worked as a journalist, teacher, publisher, and screenwriter. Assessed as one of the well-known poets of the 70s, in Albania, Spahiu has published a number of poetic volumes such as “You beloved city”, “Death of the gods”, “Open doors and hearts”, “Albanian poetry”, “Cracked time” etc. His selected work, the best creations from 1965 to 2000, has been published. Chairman of the League of Writers and Artists of Albania, until 1998, member of the Academy of Sciences, prominent personality of Albanian letters Xhevahir Spahiu, through a special style, has enriched the fund of verses, in Albanian literature.

On March 1, 1951, the Albanian Post Telecommunication issued a stamp in commemoration of the 483rd anniversary of the death of our National Hero Skënderbeg. It was printed in Budapest.

In Albanian philately, our National Hero, Skënderbeg is widely reflected, in the fullness of his figure, with the dimensions of a strategist, statesman, politician and diplomat of international level, who led the fight for independence against the Ottoman occupation, who achieved the political and state union of Albanians, but also who gave a valuable help in the diplomacy of the time.

On March 1, 1999, NATO Secretary General Javier Solana welcomed the decision of the Kosovo delegation to sign the agreement in Rambuje. He asked the warring parties in Kosovo to refrain from fighting until March 15, 1999
