On March 17, 1914, Prince Wilhelm of Wied, relying mainly on the feudal lords, formed the new Albanian government. Upon being placed on the throne of Albania, Prince Vidi tried to resolve the most urgent problem of the ousting of the Greek troops from South Albania and the establishment of the Albanian administration in these places.

On March 17, 1932, Politician, Diplomat, Iliaz Bey Vrioni passed away in Paris. Iliaz Bej Vrioni was born in Berat in 1882. He was one of the signatories of the Declaration of Independence of the Albanian State. He was elected three times as Prime Minister of Albania and several times as Foreign Minister and as Minister Plenipotentiary in France and Britain. For a very long time he was a Member of Parliament of Albania. Iliaz Bej Vrioni, for his rich contribution to international relations, was decorated by the French Republic in the 1920s, with the high order, Officer of the Legion of Honor. He passed away in Paris at the age of 50, and was brought to rest in his homeland, but in 1946, the dictatorial regime exhumed former Prime Minister Iliaz Bey Vrioni, to throw his remains in the Osum River, not letting him find rest.

On March 17, 1943, in Tirana, the women of Albania organized their First Conference for the first time in the history of our country.

On March 17, 1991, the first step was taken in Korça for the reorganization of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania.
