On May 24, 1868 in Poitiers of France, a theatrical piece was performed on our National Hero George Kastrioti Skanderbeg.

On May 24, 1922, France recognized the new Albanian state and diplomatic relations were established between our two countries.

On May 24, 1937, the actor and director Serafin Fanku was born in Shkodër. He excelled as an actor on the stage of the Professional Theater “Migjeni” in Shkodra, where he performed many first roles. He also stood out as a director and was awarded with the high title “People’s Artist”. He passed away at the age of 70 on September 29, 2007.

On May 24, 1944, the Congress of Përmet began its work. He laid the foundations of the “Dictatorship of the Proletariat” state, which collapsed with the declaration of political pluralism in the 90s of last century.

On May 24, 1945, was founded the State Theatre, today the National Theatre. His first show was part “Elders and war”. The first director was Sokrat Mio.

On May 24, 1977, in the city of Gjirokastër, the Obelisk of the Pioneers of Albanian School and in Albanian Language and the Museum Center were inaugurated. The obelisk is a sculpture of a height of 8 meters, with inscriptions and dates that make known the path of Albanian education and Albanian school.
