The war for the defense of Shkodra from the attacks of the Montenegrin army began on October 19, 1912 and ended in April 1913.

Academician Mark Krasniqi was born in the village of Gllavica near Peja on October 19, 1920. He graduated in literature at the Institute of Padova in Italy and in geography and ethnography at the University of Belgrade. Mark Krasniqi is the author of many teaching and university textbooks, scientific monographs and literary books of various genres.

Near the Institute of Hygiene in Tirana on October 19, 1937, the preventive care service against tuberculosis was inaugurated. With the help of the Rockefeller Fund, the first equipment of the kind, was put into operation in Albania.

On October 19, 2003, Mother Teresa was beatified by Pope John Paul II, as a symbol of help for the “poorest of the poor”, to whom she dedicated her life. Mother Teresa was declared a saint by the Holy See on September 5, 1916.
