-The Senate of the Republic of Venice, in its session on October 5, 1395, considered the proposal of the ruler of Vlora, Anna Komnena Balsha, the widow of Balsha II, to hand over the protection of Vlora, Kanina, Himara and Pirg to the Republic, against the Ottoman threat.

On October 5, 1734, the Arbëresh college of Saint Adrian was opened. It was an important educational and cultural center not only for the Arbëresh of Italy but for all Albanians. With the establishment of the chair of the Albanian language by Jeronim De Rada, the institution gave a great help to the Albanian school and the Albanian pedagogical thinking.

On October 5, 1884, Sulejman Delvina was born in Delvina. He was a prominent Albanian politician, prime minister of Albania in 1920 and part of Fan Noli’s government of 1924. In July 1911, he led the demonstration of Albanian students in Istanbul to support the Albanian alphabet and demands. With the fall of the Noli Government, Sulejman Delvina left Albania and spent time in Europe for several years as a political emigrant. In 1933, he returned to Albania in a serious state of health. On August 1, 1933, he passed away in Vlora, where he was buried too.

On October 5, 1922, the state gymnasium of Shkodër was opened, an important cultural and patriotic center in the north of Albania.

October 5, 1913 marks the date of the first international friendly match in the history of Albanian football. The match was between the Shkodër team “Independence” and an Austro-Hungarian team consisting of members of the armies that were at the city at that time. For the first time, this meeting took place according to the time regulation for 90 minutes, divided by two parts of 45′ each.

In Athens, with the participation of Albania, Bulgaria, Romania, Yugoslavia, Greece and Turkey, on October 5, 1930, the first Balkan Conference was convened, where the annual meeting of foreign ministers was decided. The preparation of the Balkan Pact and the creation of a cooperation body of permanent were decided too.
