Common editorial policy for periodicals of the Albanology Institutes

The editors-in-chief of the periodicals of the Albanology Institutes have held a meeting at the Presidency of the Academy of Sciences of Albania, regarding the need for a common editorial policy.
Present were the chief editors of the scientific journals “Philological Studies”, “Historical Studies”, “Illyria”, “Anthropology”, “Studia albanica”, “Albanian studies”; as well as the summarizers “Studies for Art”, “Issues of Albanian folklore”, “Dialectology”, and “Candavia”.
Concerns of magazine managers and editors were presented at the meeting, starting from the need for language editors and translators, up to the ‘open access’ provision.
The academician Valter Memisha asked for an assessment of the possibility of re-publishing the periodical “Gjuha Jonë” /Our Language/, which publishment was interrupted a few years ago.
While the associated academician Stefan Çapaliku said that it is possible that “Studies for Art” have the status of an annual periodical and that the quality of the magazines always be at the same level as that of the research. Professor Doctor Hobdari expressed the same opinion “Candavia”, as an annual periodic tribune profiled for reports on the results of archaeological expeditions, which also constitutes a legal obligation.
The academician Adem Bunguri appreciated the consolidated tradition of the “Iliria” magazine, which is already enriched with the contribution of foreign archaeological researchers, participating in joint archaeological expeditions. Professor Doctor. Hamit Kaba emphasized that in the “Historical Studies”, it is attempted that up to 40 percent of the subject be the scientific product of Albanian historians from abroad.
In the meantime, the associated Professor Doctor Gjon Boriçi, as the schientific secretary of the new magazine “Albanian Studies” emphasized the importance of maintaining regular periodicity as a basic condition for international scientific indexing The Associated Professor Doctor Mikaela Minga focused on the necessity of the open access for all magazines, proposing the construction of a page specifically numbered. This opinion was backed by the colleagues Çapaliku, Hobdari and Lelaj.
A problem that requires special attention is the profiling of magazines bearing the same title in two languages, as “Studia albanica”, which has been published for 60 years, and “Albanian studies”, a new albanological magazine.
Albanian Academy of Sciences announces that a second consultation takes place by the end of this month.
