Differences that unite, a project of Cinematheque of North Macedonia and Albanian State Film Archive

The differences that unite us is a program organized by the Cinematheque of the Republic of North Macedonia and the State Film Archive, curated by researcher Arsim Leskovica, featuring screenings and discussions on 3 movies.

There are three movies selected to be screened at the Cinematheque of the Republic of North Macedonia in Skopje, “Red Poppies on Walls” (Anagnosti, 1976), “The Great Water” (Ivo Trajkov, 2004), and “The 400 Blows” (Francois Truffaut, 1959).

The State Film Archive writes that among other reasons, these films have been chosen primarily for their similarities and parallels in the topics they deal with, and in their cinematic realization and approach.

The Albanian movie “Red Poppies on Walls” has recently been digitized and restored by the State Film Archive in 4K resolution, while the film “The Great Water” celebrates its twentieth anniversary this year.

And of course, Truffaut’s film “The 400 Blows,” according to the French film magazine “Cahiers du cinema”, is more than a masterpiece and is one of the most emblematic movies of the post-war period of French motion movie production.

The movies are scheduled for April 25th, 26th, and 27th, 2024.
