“Dream in the Attic”, Leka Bungo’s Satirical Comedy Revives 1970s Albania with Universal Themes

“Dream in the Attic,” the latest production by director Leka Bungo, blends humor, satire, and powerful messages to portray life in 1970s Albania—a past that must be remembered to avoid repeating its mistakes.
Set in a family that moves to Tirana from the southern villages, the plot revolves around the parents’ attempt to arrange their daughter’s engagement to the grandson of a prominent political figure.
Bungo’s lyrical comedy, while rooted in the 1970s, remains timely today, focusing on universal themes such as personal freedom, love, and the pressures families place on their children.
The play features a talented cast, including Ilirda Bejleri, Miola Sitaj, Naun Shundi, Artan Islami, Ligoraq Riza, Florian Agalliu, and Astrit Hasani. It will be performed on November 21 and 22 at the Bylis Theatre in Fier and will later be staged at the “Skampa” Theatre in Elbasan.
