Durrës Archaeological Museum Opens New Educational Spaces for Youth

The Archaeological Museum of Durrës reopens after full restoration and redesign under the EU4Culture program funded by the European Union.

Authorities restore the museum following damage caused by the 2019 earthquake and reorganize its exhibition spaces from the ground up.

The museum presents more than 3,200 artifacts displayed in new thematic halls organized by historical periods.

The institution integrates modern technology to create an interactive visitor experience, allowing the public to explore the era of Queen Teuta.

Officials improve accessibility, safety, and infrastructure, including the installation of functional elevators and redesigned exhibition areas.

The museum relocates collections previously stored in unsuitable spaces and introduces clearer information systems for all artifacts.

Curators restore and reintroduce the famous “Beauty of Durrës” artifact to the public display.

The museum increases its staff from 17 to 33 employees, including archaeologists, restorers, and guides.

The Archaeological Museum of Durrës develops into an active educational space with programs for children, young people, and academic cooperation.

Authorities announce free entry for all visitors during the first 15 days after reopening.
