Epidamn Cultural Night Unites Art and Heritage at Durrës’ Venetian Tower

The activity “Epidamn Cultural Night” transformed the Venetian Tower of Durrës into a space where history and art came together.
The event invited visitors—including representatives from the EU Delegation in Albania, UNOPS, Durrës Municipality, and the Durrës Museum Center—to experience the city’s heritage in a unique and creative way.
Approximately 50 citizens attended the event. They watched historical projections on the tower walls. They observed the quilling art that reconstructed the tower strand by strand. They listened to “Chronicles of the Tower,” which gave voice to city legends under the sound of a solo cello. A musical performance followed, blending traditional isopolyphonic singing with contemporary instruments.
The performers included:
- Emily Spahiu (solo cello)
- Donald Llaperi (live quilling)
- Erdit Asllanaj (Equilibrium)
- “Chronicles of the Tower” by Alesio Hysenaj, Gjergj Doçi, Marsel Rupi, and Romir Llukaçi.
“Chronicles of the Tower” concluded the night. This theatrical performance linked voices from the past with the present.
The organization Durrësi Aktiv hosted the event. It was supported by the EU4Culture grant program, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNOPS in close partnership with the Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation.
