Ermal Meta Opens Italian Culture Week with a Magical Concert in Butrint

Ermal Meta, the Albanian-born singer with a successful career in Italy, performed last night at the ancient theatre of Butrint. The concert opened his “LIVE 2025” tour and launched the Italian Culture Week in Albania.
Many important guests attended the event. Among them were Italian Ambassador Marco Alberti, the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute Alessandro Ruggera, and Albania’s Deputy Minister of Culture Lira Pipa. Moreover, the theatre was full of enthusiastic spectators who created a special atmosphere.
The concert had strong symbolic meaning. Ambassador Alberti highlighted that Butrint, a treasure of Albanian heritage, was discovered by the Italian archaeologist Ugolini 100 years ago. Furthermore, he called Ermal Meta a cultural bridge—an Albanian talent shaped by Italy.
Ruggera supported this idea. He said Meta represents the friendship between the two countries. Born in Albania and raised in Italy, he is a living link between two cultures. Therefore, the concert was more than a performance—it was a celebration of shared identity.
Deputy Minister Pipa noted that such events promote Albania’s cultural wealth. In addition, they help spread the cultural calendar to more cities across the country.
Ermal Meta performed with pianist Davide Antonio Pio and a refined string trio. Together, they presented some of his most loved songs and introduced new pieces from his upcoming album. As a result, the audience experienced a blend of music, poetry, and deep emotion.
“This is my first time in Butrint,” Meta said. “It’s a magical theatre. Clearly, I was emotional, especially since this is the first concert of my tour—and it’s happening in my homeland.”
In conclusion, the concert was both artistic and meaningful. It honored the cultural ties between Albania and Italy. Through music and emotion, it brought two nations closer together.
