EU stands with Albania in the fight against climate change

The European Union Delegation in Tirana, together with “Faktoje”, MPs, environmental activists and media representatives, opened the exhibition “Beyond the Red Light”.
The EU Office in Tirana stressed that heatwaves, wildfires, floods, and deforestation not only harm Albania’s nature but also deeply affect the lives and health of thousands of people across the country.
Albania’s EU integration process, particularly Chapter 27 of the accession negotiations (covering the environment), offers an opportunity to work on long-term solutions, the EU Delegation underlined.
EU Ambassador to Albania, Silvio Gonzato, stated: “The European Union stands by Albania. Climate change affects us all, and protecting Albania’s natural wealth will require the commitment of the government, businesses, civil society and citizens.”
He emphasized that women, young people, and the most vulnerable must be at the center of this action.
