European Heritage Days and National Cultural Heritage Day

“European Heritage Days” kicks off on September 29th, which culminates with the “National Day of Cultural Heritage”, writes ATA.
As every year, this early initiative of the Council of Europe in 1985, which is widely celebrated in about 50 countries in Europe, has now been transformed into a joint action of all actors of cultural heritage, through the realization of cultural activities in monuments, archaeological parks, museums and galleries.
The common theme launched by the European Council for 2023 is Living Heritage.
Living Heritage refers to the practices, knowledge and skills passed down from generation to generation and carried down to the present day.
All skills, trades and professions serve to keep heritage alive from generation to generation in different ways. The 2023 theme highlights the work that keeps the legacy alive today, thanks to the people who passed down the legacy and ensured its continuity. The totality of skills, practices as well as the way of their transmission reflects identity and continuity, a process which is in permanent motion.
Addressing the theme of living heritage creates the possibility of deep exploration while promoting cultural diversity and creativity.
Within this theme, the Vlora Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage organizes a series of activities with school students in cultural monuments and archaeological parks, which will be finalized with the activity “Crafts – Polyphony – Culinary”, an activity which comes thanks to the cooperation with the Selenica Municipality.
