Exhibition in Tirana on the topic Kosova a Republic

“Reawakening to national values, Kosova a Republic” is the title of the exhibition opened on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of the declaration of independence of Kosova by the General Directorate of Archives (DPA) in cooperation with the State Agency of Archives of Kosova (ASHAK) and the Castle of Tirana.

Present at this activity, which took place in the premises of the Tirana Castle, were the General Director of Archives, Ardit Bido, and the Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Kosova to Tirana, Burim Susuri.

In his speech to the media, Bido said that regardless of state borders, the elites have not stopped their efforts for cultural hegemony.

“This exhibition recounts the prelude of Independent Kosova. On this occasion, I want to wish all Albanians, wherever they are, for this important day, for one of the most important events in our national history. The independence of Kosova is not a one-day event, it is a journey, starting in the 1920s, when the Albanians of Kosova did not accept the Serbian rule. It is the second most important national event, after the Independence of Albania. Independent Kosova was not a dream, but the union with Albania. However, the efforts to achieve hegemony in terms of culture have not stopped from the Albanian elites, in Albania and Kosova”, said the head of the DPA.

While in his speech, Susuri praised the exhibition for revealing the commitment of the contributors in achieving Kosova’s independence.

“Thank you to the DPA for the invitation and for this voluminous exhibition with materials from different periods of time, including all those who contributed to the Independence of the Republic of Kosova,” said Susuri.

The public of the capital has the opportunity to learn about the struggle on behalf of establishing Kosova a republic cause.

Among other things, the exhibited materials include scientific cooperation agreements in the early 1970s; photos from agreements and working group meetings between the Albanian Ministry of Education and the Kosovan side; Kosovan cultural groups visiting in Albania in the late 1970s; literary impressions from Kosova in the periodical “Fatosi”; the students demonstrations of 1981 in the detailed analysis of the Albanian press, radio and television on various topics for Kosova until 1979.

The exhibition is open today too.
