Albania is taking part in the 2026 edition of Platforms Project, an international contemporary art event in Athens, through the artistic platform Satellite Zone.

The Albanian collective is representing the country with “In Movement,” an exhibition that explores movement as a force that inspires understanding, transformation and dialogue.

The four participating Albanian artists are Kristanja Çene, Inda Sela, Ildi Stafaj and Kessy Buqeza. Their participation features in the official Platforms Project program through Satellite Zone, which represents Albania.

Platforms Project 2026 runs from September 17 to 20 at the Tobacco Factory – Hellenic Parliament in Athens. The event brings together artistic platforms and artists from different countries through exhibitions and contemporary art activities.

The participation of Albanian artists through Satellite Zone places Albania’s contemporary art scene in an international context. It also creates a platform for artists from Tirana to present their work at a major contemporary art event in Athens.

Ildi Stafaj presents his installation “Pjesë” (“Part”). The work uses rotating CDs as a metaphor for memory and repetition. Graphite drawings represent fragments of perception and identity. As the discs slowly rotate, the images move in a continuous cycle, reflecting how memories return and transform over time.

Kessy Buqeza presents the installation “Moving Kittens.” The cats appear almost alive, yet an invisible force controls their movement. The installation explores how ordinary objects can become extraordinary and unsettling when they move in unexpected ways. It also creates tension between the familiar and the unknown, leaving viewers both intrigued and uneasy.

Kristanja Çene presents “Corrupted Play.” The kinetic installation resembles a mobile for babies, but instead of toys, small fighter jets hang and move in the air. The work transforms innocence into a game corrupted by war. It reflects the harsh reality faced by children growing up amid conflict.

Inda Sela presents “The Power of Dematerialization.” The work explores the movement and empowerment of a dematerialized object, such as a brick, which communicates through interactive sounds using an audio box.

Sela also presents “Rebus – Worldwide Performance,” an ongoing artistic performance that explores movement, transformation and connection. A figure travels continuously by bicycle while covered in natural materials, creating spontaneous interactions with the public. The performance turns passers-by into active participants and reflects on identity, belonging and the power of art to connect people across borders.
