French Culture Week, Ambassador Suard: Our Mission, Enhancing France-Albania Cooperation

French Ambassador to Tirana Catherine Suard, invited to the RTSH 24 studio, was discussing French Culture Week in Albania, listing some of the activities that have been and will be held in Albania in this frame from May 13th to 19th.
Among the diverse activities, including concerts, exhibitions, shows, culinary events, games, and circus performances, what stands out according to Ambassador Suard was the aquatic and pyrotechnic show “Fous de Bassin“.
The ambassador mentioned that the number of spectators was quite high, emphasizing that all those who missed this show could follow it again today at 8:00 p.m. at the Artificial Lake.
“Yesterday evening, we had a wonderful show at [Artificial] Lake Tirana, a kind of water carnival, a fantastic story. Those who couldn’t come yesterday or those who want to see it again should come today at 8:00 p.m.
The atmosphere was very beautiful, festive. It was the highlight event of the week,” she said.
Furthermore, the ambassador also mentioned KubFrance, located at the Tirana Pyramid. Ambassador Suard said that the idea for KubFrance has been in place since President Macron’s visit to Tirana, during which the project was approved.
“On May 13th in the evening, it was the highlight of the week and it will continue beyond this week. CubeFrance is meant to stay there at the top of the pyramid; it is the newly opened French institute. It is very special, it is digital, and it is the first time in the world that we have opened an institute of this kind, where culture will be immersive, people will enter into works of art. It is not only cultural, but also educational. There will be experiences with the French language, it will be a meeting place both online and physically.
The cube is open every day from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
It has been foreseen since President Macron’s visit last year. We approved this project together. Our idea is that France has not been so present in Albania, and our mission is to tell the Albanians that we are here for all the aspirations we can develop together. We hope that Albania will join the EU as soon as possible,” the ambassador pointed out.
Regarding the French Lyceum [General High School] in Korça, the ambassador said that during 2025-2026, the aim is to reopen it from a different perspective. She emphasized that the mission remains the development of branches of French universities in Albania.
“It is a symbolic institution. We have understood this heritage of history. Our project is to make it revived in a different form. We want to develop our relationships as best as possible. We have hired an expert who will live in Korça. In 2025-2026, we want the Lyceum to reopen from a new perspective. We will develop parallel double diplomas in vocational training; everything related to education that we want to develop in the future, branches of French universities in Albania. These are long processes, but we are working hard with all our Albanian partners at all levels,” she said.
