French Embassy and AFD Present Climate-Themed Exhibition at COD

The French Embassy in Albania, in cooperation with the French Development Agency (AFD) and COD, has opened a photo exhibition dedicated to the environment and climate change. Moreover, the exhibition highlights France’s support for Albania’s efforts to align with European Union standards.

The official ceremony took place today at COD with the participation of French Ambassador Catherine Suard, Minister of Environment Sofjan Jaupaj, and Arnaud Dauphin, head of AFD’s office for the Western Balkans. In addition, the speakers underlined the importance of cooperation in the fields of environment and renewable energy.

Minister Jaupaj emphasized that Albania has made significant progress towards sustainable development. For example, he pointed to the law on climate change and the drafting of local adaptation plans. Furthermore, he described the exhibition as a symbol that reflects reality and inspires further commitments. However, he also noted that Albania, while not a global polluter, still suffers equally from the effects of climate change.

The exhibition, curated by photographer Soela Zani, combines art, nature, and a vision for a sustainable future. Meanwhile, it showcases the landscapes of Karavasta, Karaburun, Kune-Vain, and Durrës—areas where joint projects between France and Albania are being implemented.

Thus, through renewable energy, protected area management, and improved water supply, this partnership goes beyond investment. Instead, it represents a long-term commitment to a greener, stronger, and more sustainable Albania.

The exhibition will remain open at COD until September 27.
