Gjirokastër Folk Fest, renowned singer Eneda Tarifa says it bears extraordinary values, the city mayor would want it to take place yearly

The singer Eneda Tarifa considered the Gjirokastër National Folklore Festival to be a festival with extraordinary values. Invited to the show “Publikisht” on the RTSH, which was transferred on the stage of the Festival, Tarifa described the presentation as a very exciting and as a special experience.
“It is not the first experience, but it is the most special. It is a pleasure and an honor. Eight days for this Festival are not enough, there were a lot of people. Apparently, we are eager to tell ourselves who we are, what the real Albanian folk songs are, because now the time has come when you hear it distorted, that the songs are made for other purposes. While we already have the opportunity to see which is the folk music and which is party music. It was an emotional moment when I introduced the group from Switzerland and none of them were born in Albania. It was exciting. Such a Festival has extraordinary values, the Folkloric Festival bears an emotion to me and it was my request to present two evenings of the Festival,” said the singer.
Gjirokastër mayor, Flamur Golemi considered the Festival as the best advertisement for the city, as he emphasized that he will ask for it to take place every year and not once every five years, as the tradition is established.
“Gjirokastër has it all, it has history, culture. For many Albanians and foreigners, Gjirokastër is known as the city where the Folkloric Festival takes place. This festival has something new. During this week, most of the accommodation structures have been reserved and all these tourists who are come, and see this Festival as another attraction, will leave with a surprising impression and it is a good PR for Gjirokastër, and for Albania too. Everything that is performed these days is a very good PR for all of Gjirokastër. I will lobby hard so that this Festival is organized annually. Gjirokastër considers it indispensable. There is a need for attractions so that tourists do not see Gjirokastër just to stay for 1 or 2 days,” said Golemi.
After 8 years of absence, the National Folk Festival opened its doors on June 24 and will last until July 2. During Friday where folklore ensembles of the District of Elbasan and the Diaspora took to the stage.
