Gjirokastër, Investments in the Museum Area Preserve Identity and Improve Road Functionality

Investments in Gjirokastër’s museum area continue.

Work has started on “Doktor Kalivopulli” Street. The street’s historic character is being restored. Its functionality and accessibility for residents and visitors are also being improved.

The street segment is around 800 meters long. It is part of the project “Mobility Plan and Detailed Design of Investments for Integrated Urban Renewal of Gjirokastër.” The project is valued at around three million euros.

According to Agron Banushi, who is responsible for the works, the interventions aim to enhance accessibility and practical use while restoring the street.

Scarification is being applied to return cobblestones to their original condition. Rainwater is being managed through manholes. Cobblestone restoration is ongoing. The work covers roughly 820 square meters. Completion is expected within ten to fifteen days.

Meanwhile, restoration work in the “Palorto” neighborhood has been completed.

Infrastructure improvements are also being carried out in the “18 Shtatori” neighborhood.
