Hungarian Cultural Week: Glass Art by Yvette Botz at Tirana’s Pyramid

One of the highlights of Hungarian Cultural Week was an exhibition by Hungarian artist Yvette Botz. Visitors were captivated by the enchanting world of Botz’s glass art, where her expertise and the unique qualities of glass combine to produce works radiant with light and form.
The exhibition, open throughout Hungarian Week, presents a visual journey where color and space merge to transform glass into expressive art. Featured among her creations was a glass sculpture of Albania’s national hero, Skanderbeg.
“The embassy invited me to showcase my glass statues made using the Tiffany technique, which is quite rare. These statues are a part of my life, each telling a story about it. I have made something for Albania, a statue of Skanderbeg. It is a blessing for Albanians to still hold dear what this hero has done for you,” said the Hungarian artist.
The exhibition features only 14 statues, part of a private collection. Yvette Botz has been working in this field for 35 years, transitioning from church and building stained glass to focusing solely on statues.
Hungarian Cultural Week runs from September 1-6, as part of the International Cultural Weeks.
