TIRANA, March 30 – At a government roundtable on Albania’s progress in European Union negotiations, Prime Minister Edi Rama emphasized the need to modernize public procurements. He said integrating artificial intelligence into procurement processes must be completed by 2027 and become a model standard for the country.

Rama noted that Albania has made significant progress but has not yet reached an advanced framework for public procurement. “Completing this process will take us to a completely new level and make Albania a model country,” he added. He linked procurement modernization to the EU negotiation timeline and the need for tangible results by 2027.

He described EU integration as a historic transformation for the Albanian state, strengthening justice institutions and raising professional standards. Rama said the process enhances institutional capacity and the state’s ability to act effectively, improving the rule of law and citizens’ rights.

The prime minister added that the fight against corruption runs in parallel with institutional modernization and the improvement of public services. The government aims that by 2027, Albania will have achieved its EU integration goals, set new standards in public procurement, and reinforced institutional capacity to provide fast and high-quality services.
