Jazz Under the Stars: Tirana Hosts 4th Edition of Gjon Mili Festival

At the “Reja” installation in Tirana, the 4th edition of the “Gjon Mili” Jazz & Blues Festival officially opened.

On the first evening, two bands performed: “Bluebird Band” and “Hard Maces Trio.” The Bluebird Band featured Einar Nelku (vocals, guitar, harmonica), Bledar Sejko (guitar), Sokol Shehu (guitar), Emiljan Dhimo (drums), and Ilir Duri (bass).

Later, the audience enjoyed a performance by Hard Maces Trio, composed of Vince Abbracciante (accordion), Giovanni Angelini (drums), and Claudio Chiarelli (saxophone).

The fourth edition of the Gjon Mili Jazz & Blues Festival will continue for two more nights. Over the course of three evenings, the public will enjoy free jazz and blues concerts from six Albanian and international ensembles, featuring nearly 40 professional and emerging musicians.

This festival honors Gjon Mili, the renowned Albanian photographer who documented jazz music in the United States. It revives his legacy within Albania’s cultural memory.

Moreover, the festival offers a unique opportunity to experience the magic of jazz and blues in an open-air setting, while promoting new musical talents.

The event is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Economy and Innovation, the Italian Cultural Institute, the University of Arts, Tirana Municipality, and other partners.
