The National Museum of Medieval Art has announced the upcoming opening of the iconographic exhibition dedicated to John the Baptist.

This exhibition presents John the Baptist as one of the most elaborated depicted figures in the Byzantine iconographic tradition.

Completely devoted to John the Baptist, the exhibition features approximately 13 icons, each representing him in various styles and periods. Many of these icons will be displayed for the first time.

To mark the exhibition’s opening, a scientific session will convene, bringing together scholars and notable figures in Byzantine art to discuss the subject matter.
