The international scientific conference “Challenges and perspectives of economic cooperation Kosovo-Albania and the region” organized by the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo and the Academy of Sciences of Albania opened today in Prishtina.

The head of the Academy of Sciences Skënder Gjinushi said that cooperation between researchers of Albania and Kosovo is necessary in all fields of science and that it has now turned into a positive practice between the two academies.

The modest intellectual and logistical capacities, the few experiences in many new fields, the low funding for scientific research in relation to the GDP, make a cooperation between the two academies advisable and mandatory.

According to Gjinushi, European integration started as a need for economic integration; this process, in which Kosovo and Albania are involved, and the general globalization, impose a growing cooperation not only with the countries of the region and the European ones, but first of all, between us.

As for the economic and scientific integration between Albania and Kosovo, Gjinushi said that, as two countries with the same people, these political tendencies are absent, since there should be no concern between us about who benefits more and receiving scientific opinion on important issues, such as the conclusions and recommendations of this conference, would mitigate any tendency for political protagonism.
