Korça Prefect and French Embassy Advisor Advance Plans for French High School Initiative

The Prefect of Korça, Nertil Jole, welcomed Pierre Raynaud, Cooperation and Culture Advisor at the French Embassy in Albania, to discuss the development of a French high school in Korça. Joining the meeting was Jérôme Lebars, a French government expert working with the Korça Prefecture on this initiative, which was proposed by Prime Minister Rama and warmly endorsed by President Macron during his recent visit to Albania.

This gathering marked the second session of the Steering Committee for Institutional Cooperation, a body coordinating efforts between central and local Albanian institutions alongside French government advisors.

“During this session, we reviewed surveys completed by parents and students, which were conducted by the expert to gauge local interest in the French high school project,” Prefect Jole informed ATA.

Jole affirmed that the Prefecture is fully supporting the French expert in realizing the Prime Minister’s directive, ensuring collaboration from both central and local institutions to advance the project.

The prefect highlighted that this initiative not only strengthens the longstanding friendship between Albania and France but also offers new educational pathways for young people in Korça and beyond, allowing them to pursue secondary studies locally with an opportunity for future university education in France.
