EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos said Albania does excellent work on its EU membership path. She made the statement in an interview with Politico.

When asked about the situation in Albania and the investigation involving Belinda Balluku, Kos gave a positive assessment. She also commented on how Prime Minister Edi Rama manages the process.

She said Albania shows strong progress. Member states now review the country through interim benchmarks on the rule of law. So far, the process looks good. However, authorities continue to monitor specific cases closely.

Meanwhile, Kos praised SPAK. She said the anti-corruption agency does excellent work. As a result, it identifies cases. She stressed that institutions must respond properly. The EU continues to monitor these reactions.

At the same time, she highlighted a key challenge. She said strong laws alone do not solve corruption. Societies must change their mindset.

Furthermore, she noted that this issue affects all candidate countries. Even with good legislation, problems remain if people accept corruption. Therefore, countries must go through a gradual process of change. This process takes time.
