Kumbaro stated that the tourism market is being formalized and the tourism package diversified

The Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, emphasized that changes to the law “On Marine Tourism Activities” aim to formalize this market and promote activities that diversify the tourism package. She stated that the new provisions simplify the requirements for technical managers and administrators, removing the need for additional documentation, including foreign language certification and mandatory licensing through the National Business Center, focusing instead on motor vehicle documentation and certification by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism.
Kumbaro highlighted the importance of enhancing tourism standards, improving safety for visitors, and supporting private operators in this growing sector. The minister further stressed that marine tourism, while relatively new in Albania, has seen rapid development. She cited the increase in certified tour operators, rising from 10 in 2021 to over 160 by 2024, as evidence of growing interest in this industry.
Moreover, Kumbaro noted the significance of the law for boosting business efficiency and extending the tourist season, underscoring the potential of the revised legal framework to further strengthen the quality and safety of marine tourism operations in Albania.
