“Liri a Vdekje” Returns Restored to Tirana International Film Festival

“Liri a vdekje,” a film celebrating patriotism, sacrifice, and resistance, will screen restored on the final night of the Tirana International Film Festival.
The film carries special emotion. It was born from the unique collaboration of two directors, Ibrahim Muçaj and Kristaq Mitro, who always worked in perfect harmony. Together, they captured not only the battle against occupation but also the spiritual strength of a people who refused to bow.
Produced in 1979, the film features a screenplay by Vath Koreshi and music by the renowned composer Kujtim Laro.
The Central State Film Archive announced that the restored premiere will take place on September 27 at Millennium Cinema.
Timo Flloko stars as Çerçiz Topulli, delivering one of the most remarkable performances in Albanian cinema about historical figures of the National Renaissance and the War of Independence.
Flloko’s portrayal stands out because he conveys not only the ideal of freedom but also the drama of sacrifice. This makes Çerçiz Topulli a human, touching figure rather than a distant hero.
For this reason, Flloko’s performance remains a highlight of Albanian cinema, where actor and hero merge into one unforgettable presence.
