“Logu i Bjeshkeve” Festival to be held on 6th August

On August 6, 2023, the beautiful girls of Highlands will parade in the amphitheater of the Predelec Pass, wearing Jubleta.
Also this year, the unique festival, “Logu i Bjeshkeve”, returns, where in a stunning natural scenography, the beautiful girls of the Highlands will wear the queen of folk costumes, the jublet, now the treasure of all humanity, under the protection of Unesco.
The news was announced by the Minister of Culture in Albania, Elva Margariti, indicating that this festival is organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture.
This Festival is a cultural manifestation that takes place every year since 1998 on the second Saturday of August in the village of Lepusha in Kelmendi in the place called Qafa Predelec.
In this manifestation, the girls of Kelmendi compete to win the “Miss Bjeshka” crown. This is a very good opportunity for you to get to know the traditional clothes, songs and dances of Kelmendi.
The history of the Logu of Bjeshka is early. People used to express their sympathy for one of the girls or brides of the village in a formal and unorganized way, appreciating her by her graces. She was personified as well dressed, clean and healthy. This assessment was made at the moment when she was seen on the way to the village Kroi or during ceremonies and holidays such as Sundays in the Church. She became a symbol of beauty and everyone tried to imitate her in the way she dressed, behaved, walked and sang.
