“Migjeni” theater brings “Hekuba” at the Inter-Balkan Festival of Ancient Drama

This summer, the Inter-Balkan Festival of Ancient Drama, founded by the Attica Region, will be presented for the first time, which will now become an annual tradition.

The main goal of this festival is to highlight the great theatrical tradition and contemporary creativity of the Balkan countries on ancient drama.

As part of this four-day festival, on July 6, at the “Katina Paxinou” theater in Athens, Albania will be represented by the “Migjeni” Theater, with the tragedy “Hecuba” by Euripides, directed by the director successful Albanian Enke Fezollari, translated into Albanian by Eleana Zhiaku.

The role of Hecuba in the play is performed by Rita Gjeka Kacarosi. The well-known actress Vefi Redhi, who lives and works in Greece, as well as the actor and director of the Albanian Theater of Skopje, Adem Karaga, take part in this show. Actors Jozef Shiroka, Krist Lleshi, Fritz Selmani, Rajmonda Marku, Merita Smaja, Nikolin Ferketa and Aleksandër Prenga also perform.

Euripides’ “Hecuba” is a cruel tale of the terrible revenge that the former queen of Troy took on the Thracian king Polymestor, who slaughtered her son Polydorus, for the sole purpose of profit.

On this type of authentic Balkan telethurgy, Enke Fezollari and his group bring a multicultural show, through their human perspective, their customs and characteristics, with the impetus of the tradition of the north of Albania.
