Minister Gonxhja Meets Global Creative Economy Leader John Newbigin

Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports Blendi Gonxhja met today with John Newbigin, OBE — one of the world’s leading figures in the creative economy.
Newbigin chairs the Global Council for the Creative Economy and serves as the Mayor of London’s Ambassador for the sector.
He was accompanied by a high-level British Council UK delegation led by Baroness Wendy Alexander, Deputy Chair of the Board, and Adrian Chadwick, Regional Director for Wider Europe.
Minister Gonxhja called the meeting an important step toward deepening strategic cooperation for the growth of Albania’s creative industries.
He said discussions focused on building a sustainable cultural and innovation ecosystem that supports young artists and creative professionals.
“The creative industry is a driver of economic and social development,” Gonxhja stated.
Talks also addressed international partnerships in culture and innovation, talent support, and the review of the legal framework for film and the audiovisual sector.
Gonxhja underlined that Albania’s strategic vision for culture and the creative economy is clear — to make it a key pillar of sustainable national development.
The meeting concluded with a joint commitment to strengthen cooperation at both national and international levels.
